The Rohingya genocide refers to the systematic persecution and violence inflicted upon the Rohingya Muslim minority in Myanmar by the country's military and security forces, starting around 2016. The violence intensified in August 2017, leading to a mass exodus of Rohingya people fleeing to neighboring Bangladesh and other countries.
